Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 26 May, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the President of World Triathlon, Antonio Fernández Arimany, who is visiting the country in connection with the Triathlon and Paratriathlon World Cup taking place in Samarkand.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for expanding practical cooperation with this prominent international sports organization — primarily in promoting triathlon and comprehensively supporting the development of a national triathlon program in Uzbekistan.

The steady progress of triathlon in the country was noted with satisfaction. A national federation has been established and is functioning successfully, international competitions are held on a regular basis, and Uzbek athletes are consistently improving their performance and strengthening their positions in both Asian and global rankings.

Special attention was given to future collaboration in training athletes, coaches, referees, and sports administrators, as well as implementing joint expert support programs and developing modern sports infrastructure.
