Prosecutor’s Office Launches Investigation Following Reports of Orders Issued on Behalf of Arrested District Hokim
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Social media platforms have circulated information alleging that five decrees authorizing the allocation of public funds were signed in the name of the arrested hokim of Sharof-Rashidov District.
In response, the Sharof-Rashidov District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a preliminary inquiry. The Prosecutor’s Office of Jizzakh Region has taken the case under control to ensure a lawful procedural decision is made based on the collected materials.
As previously reported, the State Security Service detained the hokim of Sharof-Rashidov District, Mahmud Kholbutaev.
He is currently under criminal investigation under Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — "Bribery." His parliamentary immunity has also been revoked.
Additionally, criminal cases have been opened in connection with the same investigation against a senior specialist of the district administration under Articles 168 (“Fraud”) and 211 (“Bribery”) of the Criminal Code.
