Putin and Trump to Meet in Alaska on 15 August

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will hold a meeting in Alaska on 15 August. The announcement was made by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, who noted that the American side had officially confirmed the agreement.

According to Ushakov, given the geographical proximity of the two countries, hosting the summit in Alaska is quite logical — the Russian delegation will simply fly across the Bering Strait.

Earlier, Trump confirmed his intention to meet with Putin on 15 August in a post on the Truth Social platform. This will be their first in-person meeting since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.

On 7 August, Ushakov reported that the parties had agreed to hold talks in the coming days. That same day, Putin confirmed preparations for the meeting, stressing that the interest in dialogue is mutual.

The summit announcements followed the 6 August visit to Moscow by U.S. presidential special representative Stephen Witkoff, who held around three hours of talks with the Russian leader.
