Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union summit, which took place on 27 June in Minsk.

The two leaders discussed the current state of Uzbek-Russian relations and exchanged views on key issues of bilateral cooperation.

At a press conference, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin announced that during his meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the two sides were able to align their positions on a number of potential large-scale investment projects. As the Russian leader emphasized, both he and his Uzbek counterpart consider these initiatives to be realistic and achievable.

According to Putin, the discussions centered on strategically important areas such as energy — including prospects for cooperation in nuclear energy — as well as projects in infrastructure and metallurgy. He noted that these issues have been under discussion between the two governments for some time, and now the partners are moving on to practical steps toward implementation.
