Starting from 2026, all preventive inspectors in Uzbekistan will be equipped with body cameras

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Beginning from 1 January 2026, all preventive inspectors in Uzbekistan will be fully equipped with body cameras, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Crime Prevention Service, Rahimjon Naimov, announced at a press conference on 27 August.

According to Naimov, funds for purchasing the devices have already been allocated. “The personal safety of inspectors during their duties is of utmost importance. In the past, there have been cases of physical assaults or slander against inspectors by citizens, as well as complaints alleging illegal actions by officers without supporting evidence. To prevent such situations, inspectors will be fully provided with body cameras,” he said.

Earlier, on 5 March, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed, during an expanded meeting of the National Council for Combating Corruption, that each preventive unit in every mahalla be equipped with surveillance cameras, each inspector be provided with a body camera, and a new platform be launched to record violations.

Traffic police officers in Tashkent began testing body cameras as early as 2019.
