Strategic Energy Project Nearing Completion at Surgil Field in Karakalpakstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of efforts to strengthen Uzbekistan’s energy security, general construction and installation work has been completed on a strategic project at the Surgil gas field — the construction of a Booster Compressor Station (BCS), a key facility aimed at efficiently utilizing the region’s resource potential.

The Surgil BCS is designed to increase the pressure of natural gas before it is transported to the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex, where valuable raw components are processed into polymer materials. The station’s planned capacity is 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year, or up to 4.8 million cubic meters per day.

The general contractor for the project is Enter Engineering, which is implementing the work using advanced technological solutions.

The station is equipped with two parallel-operating gas pumping units manufactured by Baker Hughes. Commissioning and adjustment work is currently underway.

The launch of the new facility will:

– boost gas production volumes at the Surgil field;

– ensure a stable raw material base for the production of high value-added goods at the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex;

– improve the efficiency of resource utilization at low-pressure fields managed by the Ustyurt Gas Production Department.

The project also carries significant social benefits: it contributes to job creation, enhances energy supply for the population and businesses, and supports the sustainable socio-economic development of the region.

The Surgil BCS is expected to become another key element in building a stable and highly efficient national energy system.
