Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York (USA), a meeting took place between UN Under-Secretary-General and Head of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Li Junhua, and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Umid Abidkhadjaev.

During the discussion, UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua gave high praise to Uzbekistan’s progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The parties discussed issues related to digital connectivity, increasing the share of high-tech products in the economy, and the importance of targeted infrastructure investment to unlock "data dividends."

As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached to engage experts from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs in the implementation of projects in these areas, as well as to organize a departmental mission to Uzbekistan.
