Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 August, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Paolo Zampolli, the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for Global Partnerships, who is visiting the country on an official working trip.

The senior U.S. Administration representative conveyed greetings and congratulations from President Donald Trump to the head of state on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.

During the talks, the parties discussed further expansion of Uzbek-American strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation. Special attention was given to the ongoing constructive political dialogue, active interparliamentary exchanges, and preparation for the first meeting of the Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue, scheduled for this autumn.

Effective collaboration in security, counterterrorism, combating extremism, and illegal migration was highlighted.

The United States continues to be one of Uzbekistan’s key economic partners: trade turnover in 2024 increased by 15 percent, and the project portfolio exceeds US$11 billion.

The sides also discussed prospects for implementing joint projects in mineral resources, aviation, electrical engineering, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, and education, as well as the need to deepen regional cooperation in the “C5+1” format.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on the schedule of upcoming contacts and joint initiatives between the two countries.
