Uzbek President orders route optimization and road improvements in Khorezm
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As public activity increases and tourism rapidly develops in the Khorezm region, efforts are underway to enhance transport services. To support this, the company “Bunyod Yo‘lovchi Tashish” is purchasing 80 modern buses worth nearly US$8 million, with 50 already delivered.
During his visit to the region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the new facilities aimed at improving convenience for local residents.
The newly introduced buses meet Euro-5 environmental standards, accommodate up to 70 passengers, and feature low-floor designs, making them accessible for the elderly and people with disabilities. Equipped with video surveillance systems and Wi-Fi, the buses offer improved comfort and safety. Local residents have responded positively to the arrival of the new public transport.
While previously a small-capacity bus served 200–300 passengers daily, the new buses can carry up to 1,000 passengers. Bus intervals have been reduced by half — now ranging between 5 to 12 minutes — increasing public transport usage in Urgench to 38 percent.
These improvements have addressed transport shortages, reduced traffic congestion, and enabled smoother mobility for residents.
An additional 30 buses are expected to be delivered soon to serve districts with insufficient public transport coverage.
The President instructed officials to efficiently connect all districts to the public transport network, optimize routes, focus on road repairs, improve driver training, and enhance technical service quality. These measures are considered essential for extending the service life of buses and raising the overall quality of transport services.
