Uzbek Woman Accused of Human Trafficking Detained and Extradited from Oman

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A citizen of Uzbekistan, accused of human trafficking, was placed on the international wanted list and detained in April of this year in the territory of the Sultanate of Oman.

The suspect was extradited to the Republic of Uzbekistan from Muscat via Interpol channels, accompanied by officers of the National Central Bureau of Interpol (NCB). She has been formally charged under Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which stipulates criminal liability for human trafficking.

Based on collected evidence, the woman was declared internationally wanted. As a result of active efforts by Interpol, her whereabouts in Oman were identified, leading to her arrest in April this year.

It is worth noting that a month earlier, two other suspects were also extradited from Oman to Uzbekistan, accompanied by officers of the Interpol NCB in Tashkent. Negotiations held during the visit and the establishment of bilateral contacts facilitated the expedited approval of the extradition request submitted by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan.

Upon arrival at Islam Karimov International Airport in Tashkent, the detainee was handed over to representatives of the Interpol NCB and domestic law enforcement authorities.
