Uzbekistan and China Discuss New Railway Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 August, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov and a delegation of Chinese government and business representatives, led by Ke Dimin, Director of the Beijing China Railway Construction Electrification Design & Research Institute.
The discussions focused on potential cooperation in areas such as locomotive repair, maintenance, and leasing; training of train drivers; modernization of diesel locomotives; technical support for electric trains; and development of Uzbekistan’s railway infrastructure.
Three leading Chinese railway companies participated in the talks: Zhengzhou Gongying Railway Equipment, China Railway Construction Corporation, and Tangshan Baichuan Intelligent Machinery.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work on implementing promising projects in the identified areas, laying a solid foundation for the further improvement and qualitative development of Uzbekistan’s railway infrastructure.
