Uzbekistan and China Expand Cooperation in Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Within the framework of the 3rd Uzbekistan–China Interregional Forum held in Xi’an, Chairman of the Tourism Committee A. Akkulov held a series of meetings with representatives of major Chinese companies in the tourism, hospitality, and transport infrastructure sectors.
During a meeting with Vice President of Fei Jing Tourism Wei Jie, the sides discussed attracting high-end Chinese tourists to Uzbekistan and expanding the company’s presence in the Uzbek tourism market.
The Chinese side expressed interest in managing 4- and 5-star hotel properties with no fewer than 80 rooms, involving Chinese hotel brands targeting premium and business-class clients.
Experts note that the development of premium tourism is becoming one of the most promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China amid growing tourism exchange and increasing interest in Silk Road travel routes.
Special attention was given to transport infrastructure development. During talks with General Director of Winner Hydrogen Luo Tianshi, the sides discussed projects aimed at expanding tourist transport services and technical support for bus fleets.
Following the discussions, preliminary agreements were reached on establishing a specialized service center in Uzbekistan for the maintenance of tourist buses of brands such as Yutong, Golden Dragon, King Long, and others supplied to the local market.
With Deputy General Director of Shaanxi Tourism Group Zhao Yuewang, the parties discussed increasing tourist flows from China’s Shaanxi province and implementing joint projects in thematic and cultural tourism.
Particular interest was drawn to the Silk Road theme park project already implemented by the Chinese company in Xi’an. The 40-hectare park can accommodate up to 40,000 visitors per day.
The parties are currently exploring the possibility of creating a similar theme park in Samarkand, near the Samarkand tourism center.
Experts believe such projects could significantly enhance Uzbekistan’s tourism appeal, support family and cultural tourism development, and increase inbound tourist flows from Asian countries.
Analysts also emphasize that expanding cooperation with Chinese companies reflects growing international business interest in Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and the development of new infrastructure projects along modern Silk Road routes.
