Uzbekistan and China to Establish Joint Laboratory on Smart Electric Vehicles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a working visit to China, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Otabek Makhkamov, together with Vice-Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIMSX), Shukhrat Shokirov, met with the faculty team of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) led by Vice-President Wang Bengtsun.

The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in education, science, and innovation, enhancing the efficiency of joint research, developing the potential of young scientists, and exchanging advanced university practices.

Following the talks, a memorandum was signed to establish the China–Uzbekistan Joint Laboratory on Smart Electric Vehicles. The laboratory will conduct fundamental and applied research on modern electric vehicles and charging technologies, implement joint educational programs, and provide advanced training and internships for young scientists and faculty.

Additionally, the parties agreed to carry out joint scientific projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, explore the possibility of opening a BIT branch at TIIMSX, and gradually expand cooperation.
