Uzbekistan and Pakistan Launch Leather Production: US$1 Million Contract Signed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25–26 June 2025, a delegation from the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, paid a working visit to Karachi, Pakistan’s largest economic center. The purpose of the visit was to expand cooperation with Pakistan’s leather and footwear industries and to strengthen export and investment ties.
During meetings with leading manufacturers, export associations, and industrial companies in Pakistan, several concrete agreements were reached. One of the key outcomes was the signing of a US$1 million contract between the director of the Uzbek enterprise “Olga elining maskani ziyo” LLC, Zakhriddin Karshiyev, and the head of “Mubarak Ali,” Mubarak Ali Mubak.
The agreement outlines a cooperative project that involves the processing of Uzbek raw materials and the subsequent export of finished products. This deal reflects the high level of trust between the business communities of both countries and opens new horizons for sectoral collaboration.
Pakistani partners expressed particular interest in Uzbekistan’s favorable business environment, which includes tax and customs preferences, advanced logistics, and opportunities within small industrial zones. As part of the visit, B2B meetings were organized with companies such as “Shafiq Brothers,” “Noor Leather,” “The Designer,” “Zainab and Co,” and “A.M.A. Leather Industry,” as well as with the Pakistan Tanners Association.
Chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association, Hamid Arshad Zahoor, proposed organizing a business tour to Uzbekistan, highlighting interest in joint projects for processing sheep and goat skins. In addition, a preliminary agreement was reached with “Shafiq Brothers” on establishing a leather production facility in Jizzakh region.
The project has already been included in a government decree, and its technical parameters were discussed during the visit. The company’s products are supplied to international brands such as “Stella Footwear,” “Darucci Leather,” and “MANGO,” creating opportunities for Uzbek leather goods to enter global markets.
The Uzbek side invited Pakistani companies to take part in the upcoming international exhibition UzCharmExpo Eurasia–2025, where the export and investment potential of Uzbekistan’s leather industry will be showcased. According to both parties, participation in this event will serve as a key step toward strengthening sustainable business ties, boosting industrial cooperation, and launching joint ventures targeting international markets.
