Uzbekistan and Russia Agree to Increase Number of Flights and Expand Air Route Network

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Russia have reached an agreement to increase the number of flights and expand the geography of air connections between the two countries.

The negotiations between the civil aviation authorities of both sides took place on 21–22 July in Moscow, as part of the implementation of the Practical Cooperation Plan in the field of transport for 2024–2026, and in accordance with the protocol of the sixth meeting of the Subcommittee on Transport Cooperation under the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The consultations brought together delegations from the Ministries of Transport of Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation. The parties discussed increasing the frequency of existing flights, launching new routes, and expanding the rights of airlines from both countries to conduct international operations.

As a result, concrete agreements were reached, providing for a significant increase in the number of flights. For the Tashkent–Moscow route, both sides have been granted the right to operate up to 50 flights per week each, amounting to a total of 100 flights. For the Samarkand–Moscow route, 23 flights per side were agreed upon. The routes Bukhara–Moscow, Urgench–Moscow, Fergana–Moscow, and Namangan–Moscow will each operate 14 flights per week, totaling 112 weekly flights on these routes.

Airlines will also be able to operate 14 weekly flights on the Tashkent–St. Petersburg, Tashkent–Krasnoyarsk, and Tashkent–Sochi routes.

For the Termez–Moscow route, each side will operate up to 10 weekly flights. Additionally, a quota of 7 weekly flights has been established for all other cities, meaning Russian carriers will have the capacity to operate up to 560 flights from 80 international airports across Russia to all international airports in Uzbekistan. In turn, Uzbek airlines will be entitled to operate 203 flights to major Russian airports, in addition to the already agreed destinations.

Furthermore, airlines have been granted the right to select up to five cities without limitations on the number of carriers, with the option to conduct so-called “triangular” flights, connecting three destinations in a single itinerary.

As a result, airlines from Uzbekistan and Russia will be able to operate more than 1,000 flights per week, making full use of the agreed network. Currently, over 310 regular flights are operated weekly between the two countries.

This agreement will not only boost passenger and cargo transport volumes but also contribute to the further strengthening of trade and economic ties, creating favorable conditions for expanding business relations and tourism between Uzbekistan and Russia.
