Uzbekistan begins preparations for cucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national football team will begin its next training camp on 28 May as it prepares for decisive matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
According to the Uzbekistan Football Association, the team will continue preparations in the United Arab Emirates starting from 29 May.
As part of the qualifying stage for the 2026 World Cup, Uzbekistan will play an away match against the UAE on 5 June, followed by a home game against Qatar at Bunyodkor Stadium on 10 June.
Uzbekistan needs just one point from the two remaining matches to advance to the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Head coach Timur Kapadze has called up the following players for the training camp:
Goalkeepers: Utkir Yusupov, Abduvohid Nematov, Botirali Ergashev.
Defenders: Umar Eshmurodov, Rustam Ashurmatov, Husniddin Alikulov, Abdulkodir Khusanov, Farrukh Sayfiev, Khojiakbar Alijonov, Sherzod Nasrullaev, Abdulla Abdullaev, Islombek Tuhtahujaev.
Midfielders: Odiljon Hamrobekov, Abbosbek Fayzullaev, Jamshid Iskanderov, Jaloliddin Masharipov, Oston Urunov, Otabek Shukurov, Abdurauf Buriev, Akmal Mozgovoy, Ruslan Jiyanov, Khojimat Erkinov, Azizbek Turgunboev.
Forwards: Eldor Shomurodov, Igor Sergeev.
