Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan’s natural gas imports from Turkmenistan and Russia dropped by 30% compared to the same period last year, amounting to US$571.8 million.

This data was published by the National Statistics Committee.

In January, gas imports totaled US$27.8 million, but then fell to US$8 million in February and further down to US$2.7 million in March. The figures began to climb again in subsequent months: US$112 million in April, US$135 million in May, and reaching US$286.3 million in June.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s natural gas exports to China rose by 50% since the beginning of the year, reaching US$354.9 million. In January, exports stood at US$21.8 million, followed by US$20.2 million in February and US$52.3 million in March. Volumes increased to US$105.4 million in April, US$88.3 million in May, and US$66.9 million in June.

At the same time, figures from China’s General Administration of Customs show slight discrepancies with Uzbek statistics. According to Chinese data, Uzbekistan exported US$365.57 million worth of natural gas to China between January and May 2025, a 55.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Chinese customs authorities also recorded a 12.6% month-on-month decline in gas imports from Uzbekistan in June — from US$118.78 million in May to US$103.72 million in June.

However, on a year-on-year basis, June 2025 exports from Uzbekistan to China increased by 27.85% compared to June 2024.
