Uzbekistan destroys 1.54 tonnes of drugs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 June 2013, law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan destroyed over 1,537 kilograms of drugs, which were seized from illegal turnover.

The event was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is marked on 26 June.

At the blast-furnace of one of Tashkent enterprises, some 198.2 kg of heroin, 760 kg of opium and 411 kg of marihuana, 140.7 kg of hashish, 27 kg of koknar, as well as 20,000 bushes of hemp, as well as large volume of psychotropic medicaments.

According to National information-analytical center on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, law enforcement revealed 8,155 cases of drug related crimes in 2012 against 8,171 in 2011.

They seized 3,043.4 kg of drugs in 2012 (5,404 kg in 2011), of which 261.5 (622.2 kg) were heroin, 770 kg (984 kg) of opium, 1,451 kg (3,018 kg) marihuana, 230.7 (367 kg) of hashish and 330 kg (413.1 kg) of koknar.
