Uzbekistan Imports Nearly 29,000 Electric Cars in First Eight Months of 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to statistics from the Customs Committee, Uzbekistan imported 42,230 passenger cars worth a total of US$640.7 million in the first eight months of 2025.

This figure is lower than the same period last year, when 47,928 cars worth US$914.7 million were imported.

The import of electric vehicles stands out sharply. From January to August 2025, 28,948 electric cars entered the country, more than double the 12,907 units imported during the same period in 2024. The associated financial outlay also increased significantly, rising to US$358.9 million from US$166.7 million the previous year.

In contrast, imports of gasoline and hybrid vehicles declined. During the reported period in 2025, only 11,166 gasoline cars worth US$233.6 million were imported, nearly half the 24,995 cars worth US$541.1 million imported in 2024. Hybrid car imports also fell sharply: 2,025 units worth US$46.1 million compared to 10,017 vehicles worth US$192.8 million in the previous year.

Diesel car imports, on the other hand, showed modest growth, with 91 units worth US$2.1 million imported in 2025 versus just 9 cars in 2024.
