Uzbekistan Launches Serial Production of Gas Purification Adsorbers for the First Time
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has launched production of equipment for natural gas purification for the first time, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
At the “Uzbekkhimmash” plant, serial production of adsorbers meeting international standards has been initiated. These devices play a key role in natural gas purification, and the first batch has already been delivered to the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department of Uzbekneftegaz.
The Ministry of Energy emphasized that the project is being implemented as part of the localization program, which not only meets domestic demand but also expands export potential.
Adsorbers are designed to remove sulfur compounds from natural gas. Each column has a diameter of 3 meters, a wall thickness of 100 mm, and a length of 19 meters, can withstand pressures of up to 63 atmospheres, and weighs 147 tons. The units are manufactured from high-quality 09G2S-12 grade steel in accordance with GOST 5520–17 standards.
The adsorption process includes three stages: direct gas purification, regeneration of the filtering materials, and cooling of the equipment before the next operational cycle.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Uzbek-made adsorbers feature high efficiency in removing sulfur compounds from gas and have an extended service life. Under the contract with Uzbekneftegaz, an additional eight adsorbers are planned for delivery to the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department.
Previously, such equipment was imported. Localization of production has almost halved its cost. The “Uzbekkhimmash” plant is capable of producing about 20 adsorbers per year, fully meeting domestic demand and opening up opportunities for export.
