Uzbekistan Strengthens Cooperation with China in the Leather and Footwear Industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A major trade, economic, and investment forum was held in China, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and China. The Uzbek government delegation actively involved the Association “Uzcharmsanoat.”
The Association’s Chairman, Akbar Sultanov, delivered a presentation on the production, investment, and export potential of Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear industry. It was noted that the sector has undergone deep modernization in recent years: production facilities meeting international standards have been established, with millions of pairs of shoes and hundreds of millions of square decimeters of leather goods produced annually.
The industry’s export potential is growing, with Uzbek products successfully reaching neighboring countries, as well as markets in Europe, Türkiye, China, and Southeast Asia.
The presentation also highlighted small industrial zones (SIZs) created for foreign investors, featuring fully developed infrastructure, tax and customs benefits, expedited registration, land allocation, and government support programs. These conditions provide broad opportunities for implementing joint projects and rapidly launching production.
Following the forum, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the leather and footwear sector. Chinese companies highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s production clusters, raw material base, and export potential.
The participation of the Association “Uzcharmsanoat” was a key factor in promoting joint investment projects, introducing modern technologies, and expanding international trade connections.
The forum confirmed that Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear industry remains a reliable and promising sector for international partners, while partnership ties with China continue to strengthen.
