Uzbekistan Strengthens Labor Inspection System Through Intensive Trainer Training Program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is continuing to strengthen its labor inspection system by participating in a program organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Turin, Italy, the ILO reports.
Four employees of the State Labor Inspectorate completed an intensive two-week course titled “Training of Trainers for Modern and Effective Labor Inspection Systems,” designed to develop skills for training colleagues and modernizing inspection practices.
According to the ILO, the program combines online learning with in-person sessions, including practical interactive exercises, group discussions, and workshops led by international experts.
The course is based on the ILO curriculum, covering policy development and labor inspections, occupational health and safety, discrimination prevention, and adult learning methodologies.
Upon completion, participants gained competencies to conduct sessions across 17 program modules and mentor new inspectors, laying the foundation for a certified trainer corps in Uzbekistan.
“Establishing a national corps of certified trainers will ensure the sustainability of labor inspection reforms and enhance the effectiveness of compliance monitoring,” the ILO emphasized.
This training is part of a broader reform aimed at aligning Uzbekistan’s labor inspection and occupational safety systems with international standards.
The project, implemented with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), includes updating national legislation, developing policies and programs, improving inspector and social partner skills, and enhancing oversight mechanisms.
Participants highlighted the practical value of the program and the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries. “Microlearning and mentor feedback provided concrete recommendations for fieldwork. We can now replicate this experience in Uzbekistan, building a modern and preventive labor inspection system,” Uzbek inspectors noted.
The course strengthens the country’s capacity to ensure safe and decent working conditions while laying the groundwork for the long-term sustainability of reforms and the implementation of international labor standards.
