Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s economy showed strong acceleration in the first half of 2025.

According to data published by the National Statistics Committee, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7.2% in January–June, up by 0.6 percentage points from the same period in 2024, when the growth rate stood at 6.6%.

At the same time, inflationary pressure eased, with the consumer price index slowing from 5.2% to 4.2%. Real incomes of the population rose by 9.5%, compared to 11.9% a year earlier.

Despite the overall improvement in macroeconomic indicators, the growth rate of industrial production volume declined — from 7.8% in the first half of 2024 to 6.6% in the same period of 2025.

The construction sector maintained a positive trajectory, with the volume of work increasing by 10.7% compared to 10.1% in the previous year. In contrast, freight transportation growth slowed from 4% in the first half of 2024 to 1.8% in 2025.

Foreign economic activity strengthened, with foreign trade turnover rising by 16.1%. Exports saw particularly strong growth, increasing by 29.2% (compared to 6.2% in 2024), mainly driven by higher gold exports and service deliveries. Meanwhile, import growth slowed to 7%.
