Uzbekistan’s NAPP Detects Signs of Fraud in Crypto Mining Equipment Rental Scheme
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14–15 July 2025, the news outlet Kun.uz published an article titled: “Another Fairy Tale: In Uzbekistan, People Are Offered Profits from Renting ‘Cryptocurrency Mining Equipment.’”
The article detailed a project in which organizers invited Uzbek citizens to invest in the rental of allegedly operational mining equipment, promising high returns in a short period.
In response, the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) of Uzbekistan issued an official statement, clarifying that no licenses or permits were granted to the organizers for conducting mining activities.
According to Presidential Decree No. PP-3832 dated 3 July 2018, only legal entities that are residents of Uzbekistan and use electricity from solar photovoltaic power stations are authorized to engage in crypto mining. Moreover, such entities must undergo official state registration.
Following an analysis conducted by NAPP, the project showed signs of fraud and violations of Uzbekistan’s crypto-asset legislation. The case has been referred to law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.
NAPP strongly urges citizens to remain vigilant and avoid participating in dubious schemes, financial pyramids, and crypto-related scams.
The agency emphasizes that all operations involving crypto-assets should be conducted exclusively through licensed national providers and in strict compliance with the law.
