World Summer Universiade “Rhine-Ruhr 2025”: Another Medal for Team Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan continues its successful performance at the World Summer Universiade taking place in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region. The national team has added another medal to its tally, thanks to taekwondo athlete Shamsiddin Kurbonov, who claimed bronze in the under 58 kg weight category.
On his way to the podium, Kurbonov secured confident victories over competitors from Pakistan, Türkiye, and Japan.
In the semifinals, he faced Thailand’s Sirawit Mahamad and narrowly lost, earning him a well-deserved bronze medal.
As of now, Uzbekistan’s medal count stands at 2 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze — a strong indicator of the team’s steady and competitive performance on the international stage.
