Yusuf Aldobey: “Our Discussions Will Serve as a Guiding Light for Future Generations”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 September, during the Second International Forum “Dialogue of Declarations” in Tashkent, Yusuf Aldobey, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), delivered a speech highlighting the special significance of the event.
He noted that the forum initiative reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening dialogue, mutual respect, and interreligious harmony. “Our shared platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas on religious freedom and harmony among religions and cultures has arrived at the perfect moment. This forum provides a unique space for every voice to be heard,” Aldobey stated.
He emphasized that the forum’s objectives fully align with the OIC’s 2025 action plan, including support for religious freedom, fostering interreligious harmony through dialogue and partnership, and practical implementation of adopted declarations.
The OIC Deputy Secretary-General expressed confidence that discussions in Tashkent will lead to concrete recommendations, the establishment of effective monitoring mechanisms, and the strengthening of international cooperation. “Our discussions here in Uzbekistan will serve as a beacon for future generations, promoting understanding, collaboration, and peace,” he added.
Aldobey also highlighted that Uzbekistan’s leadership vision for creating an environment of open and peaceful coexistence among different faiths is especially relevant amid the modern “erosion of religious tolerance.”
The forum is organized by ISMI in cooperation with the U.S. NGO “Love Your Neighbor Community” (LYNC), with support from the Committee for Religious Affairs, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Samarkand Regional Administration.
About 50 leading religious scholars, theologians, experts, and senior officials from 15 countries, including the USA, UK, China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Central Asian states, are participating in the event.
