Uzbekistan marks World Day for Decent Work

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation with participation of social partners and International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a conference “National dialogue on issues of future of labour sphere”.
Representatives of parliament, ministries and departments, NGOs, scientific establishments, international organizations such as ILO, UNECEF, OSCE, and diplomatic mission attended the conference.
At the conference, the participants discussed the concept decent labour, developed by ILO, which focuses on four important strategic goals.
The participants discusses creation of decent jobs in Uzbekistan. It was underlined that about 1 million jobs annually created in Uzbekistan each year.
The country is developing out-work systems, craftsmanship, development of farms. Development of small and private entrepreneurship is another key area for creation of new jobs. Currently, about 80% of total employed in economy work in this sector, which produces about 56% of Uzbekistan’s GDP.
The conference participants discussed implementation of international documents in labour sphere in Uzbekistan, as well as improvement of national legislation in the field.
It was underlined that Uzbekistan adopted real steps in further improving labour relations, protection of rights and interests of the citizens in social-labour sphere.
