Electronic fare payment system for public transport to be introduced in Uzbek regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An electronic fare payment system for public transport will be introduced in the regions of Uzbekistan, UzA reported quoting to the data of the Uzbek Agency of Road and River Transport.
According to the agency, 200 validators and 30,000 cards with NFC-chips (for contactless transactions) were imported to implement this project from China.
The agency recalled that the electronic fare payment system for public transport was introduced in Andijan city in May 2017.
The validators were installed in 150 buses in Andijan. Passengers can purchase an electronic payment card and replenish them with funds at 10 bus stops of the city.
The card costs is 15,000 soums, of which 5,000 soums are transferred to the card. The users can replenish the card in cash or with a plastic card.
The passengers should put card on validator, which will issue a check indicating the date, time, number and name of the route, card number and balance of funds. The check acts as a ticket.
One card, which is valid for 2 years, can be used by all family members.
