Textile protocol between Uzbekistan and EU enters into force

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Textile Protocol to the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Union entered into force on 1 July 2017, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
The protocol was signed in the city of Tashkent on 7 April 2011. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev ratified the inclusion of the "textile protocol" to the agreement on partnership and cooperation between the EU and Uzbekistan. Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis passed the law on 31 March 2017 and Senate approved it on 27 May 2017.
According to the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the textile protocol will allow Uzbekistan to increase its export potential and ensure access of Uzbek textile products to European markets.
This document will introduce the most-favored-nation treatment for textile products from Uzbekistan with respect to transit, customs and tax payments applied in the EU to Uzbek textiles.
The protocol also removes restrictions on trade in this type of product.
