Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 November, Afghanistan’s Kam Air carried out the first flight on route Kabul-Tashkent, the press service of Uzbekistan Airways said.
If earlier passengers from Afghanistan arrived in Tashkent only via Istanbul or Dubai, spending from 17 to 32 hours, now they can reach from Kabul to Tashkent directly in just an hour and a half.
Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov acts as a hub airport, which will be used by Kam Air passengers for connecting flights to Germany, Great Britain and other European countries.
The new flight Kabul-Tashkent is only part of the multilateral cooperation of the two airlines.
The sides signed agreements for the training of Afghan civil aviation pilots at the Flight School of the NAK of Uzbekistan, as well as for maintenance of Kam Air aircraft in the airline company Uzbekistan Airways Technics.
The first flight was preceded by a large preliminary work of the interdepartmental Uzbek-Afghan working group, which worked out security issues with a visit to the site. The procedure for passengers to board at the Kabul International Airport named after Hamid Karzai meets all international aviation security requirements.
