Agreement was reached on cooperation in attracting Korean pharmaceutical companies to establish production and research centers in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Last week, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by the director of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health A. Abdullayev visited the Republic of Korea to further develop bilateral cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals.
During the stay of the Uzbek delegation in South Korea, negotiations were held with leaders and representatives of a number of ministries and departments, such as the Association of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturers (KPBMA), the Ministry of Drug and Food Safety (MFDS), the Korea Health Care Development Institute (KHIDI), and South Korean pharmaceutical companies, Dunyo agency reported.
In particular, an agreement was reached with the Association of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturers of Korea to cooperate in attracting South Korean pharmaceutical companies to establish production and research centers in Uzbekistan. A Memorandum was signed providing for cooperation in the development of the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the expansion of ties between companies and organizations of the two countries.
Kyunghwa Huh, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturers of South Korea, emphasized that the seminar was very productive and undoubtedly provides a good opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in the field of pharmaceutics between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
“We hope for further continuation of cooperation and implementation of progressive steps to support this area of partnership,” he said.
Implementation of previously reached agreements on creation of production of antidiabetic drugs in Tashkent was discussed with the Dalim Biotech company. The leadership of Dalim Biotech, praising the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to improve the investment climate, said it was ready to further expand cooperation through the implementation of new investment projects. In particular, in addition to the production of antidiabetic drugs, the company plans to build a clinic and a plant for the production of cosmetics, and thereby create a “Dalim cluster”. As part of these projects, it is envisaged to attract South Korean specialists in the field of endocrinology in order to conduct master classes and seminars for Uzbek specialists, as well as sending representatives of Uzbekistan to improve their skills in Korean clinics.
An agreement was reached with BioCure and Dream World Medicine on implementation of a joint project for the production of biopharmaceutical products and essential medicines in Namangan region.
During the visit, links were also established with large South Korean pharmaceutical companies Kyung Dong Pharm Co. Ltd and DongKoo Bio & Pharma Co., Ltd by signing relevant agreements on cooperation in the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, according to the provisions of which provide for the expansion and strengthening of economic ties, as well as attracting investment.
In Seoul, with the assistance of the Association of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturers of Korea, a seminar was organized on development of the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which was attended by representatives of large South Korean pharmaceutical companies.
During the event, the participants were presented with a presentation of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of our country, the transformations being carried out in the Republic, aimed at creating a favorable investment climate, including privileges and preferences for foreign investors. Detailed information was provided on the pharmaceutical industrial zones created in Uzbekistan, their opportunities and the country’s export potential in this industry.
