Agreement reached on exchange of experience in crop production, fish farming, science and technology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khojaev paid a visit to Russia.
The official part of the visit began with a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Dmitry Patrushev. The main topic of the talks was the issues of increasing the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia, as well as the development of measures to assist business entities in the implementation of these supplies.
The partners noted with satisfaction that, according to the results of 2018, commodity turnover on agricultural products and foodstuffs between the countries increased by more than 20% and amounted to about US$550 million. The sides reached agreement on exchange of experience in crop production, fish farming, science and technology.
The parties agreed to hold in the near future a meeting of the joint Working Group on Agriculture with the involvement of Uzbek suppliers, representatives of Russian trade networks and relevant departments of the two countries.
During the dialogue with the chairman of Vnesheconombank Igor Shuvalov, the Russian side announced its readiness to consider the possibility of financing exports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia. In the very near future, relevant documents will be developed for their further signing and commencement of joint work.
Parliamentary support for the plans of our republic for expanding trade and economic ties was expressed by the first deputy chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergey Lisovsky. The Russian parliamentarian was provided with detailed information on the favorable conditions created in Uzbekistan for doing business, investing and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
The final visit was a meeting with the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Oreshkin. The parties identified responsible persons for the development of a cooperation action plan and the implementation of promising joint projects.
It should be noted that these days the embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow also became a venue for the intensive negotiations of our delegation with representatives of the Russian business community.
In particular, business meetings with heads of consulting companies Boston Consulting Group and KPMG were held. Prospects for "digitalization" of the agrarian sector of Uzbekistan were discussed in the course of a dialogue with the companies RUSNANO and Galaxy. RosAgroMarket and Damate offered their services in organizing the supply of agricultural products from Uzbekistan to Russia.
