Fergana and SeoulTech to Launch Joint AI and IT Degrees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — South Korea's leading technology university is planting its flag in Uzbekistan's Fergana Valley, signing agreements to deliver joint artificial intelligence and IT degree programs in a region being rapidly rewired for the digital economy.

Discussions on expanding higher education cooperation took place at the Tashkent Investment Forum, where Fergana Oblast Governor Hayrullо Bozorov met SeoulTech Rector Kim Dong-hwan alongside representatives of South Korean company AHA Co., Ltd and a number of investors.

The talks centered on translating previously reached agreements into concrete action, deepening inter-university partnerships, and training qualified graduates aligned with labor market demand. Joint educational programs in artificial intelligence and information technology — to be delivered in partnership with Fergana State Technical University and Kokand University — received particular attention. School-to-university career guidance and preparatory pathways were also discussed.

A dedicated strand of the dialogue addressed science-industry integration and expanded cooperation with the Fergana Oblast branch of IT Park to develop specialists in digital technology and AI.

Investors at the meeting put forward several initiatives: startup development support, student grant programs, broader educational cooperation, and the introduction of dual education models combining academic study with workplace training. Discussions ranged beyond education, touching on elevator manufacturing projects, business association development, and potential sports cooperation between Fergana football club Neftchi and South Korean clubs.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between SeoulTech, Fergana State Technical University, and the Fergana Oblast IT Park branch. AHA Co., Ltd CEO Ku Gi-do was appointed Special Adviser to the Fergana Oblast Governor on artificial intelligence implementation and digitalization.

During their visit, the Korean delegation toured several of Fergana's showcase facilities — including the Fergana Expo exhibition center, IT Park, and the Burhaniddin Marginiy Scientific and Educational Center — and expressed strong appreciation for the infrastructure and conditions on offer.
