Group Detained in Chirchik Over Street Extortion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the city of Chirchik in the Tashkent region, law enforcement officers have detained a group of individuals suspected of involvement in street extortion and violations of public order, according to the press service of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.

According to the agency, a criminal case has been opened against six previously convicted individuals — identified as I.S., I.S., U.B., A.R., K.S., and M.F. The investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of their alleged illegal activities.

The State Security Service stated that the suspects had systematically violated public order, engaging in hooliganism and exerting pressure on citizens. Their actions reportedly involved extorting money through psychological and physical coercion.

Authorities have called on citizens who may have been affected by the group’s actions to contact the State Security Service via the short number 1520 or the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 102 to provide information or file complaints.
