Kashkadarya starts early watermelon exports season

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region, early-season watermelon exports have begun from the Kukdala district, where this year’s harvest ripened earlier than usual. The produce is being supplied both to the domestic market and exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

According to regional sources, melon crops in the district were planted on a total area of 20,000 hectares this year.

Of this, around 10,000 hectares are allocated to the “Dolbi” variety, which is noted for its resistance to dry and hot climatic conditions, high yield, and strong export potential. The early ripening of this variety is said to give farmers a competitive advantage in foreign markets.

Customs authorities are also involved in the export process, assisting in the expedited clearance of goods and simplifying export control procedures. Entrepreneurs are being briefed on current regulations and requirements to ensure the smooth export of produce.

According to the Kashkadarya regional customs office, more than 22,000 tons of watermelon production from the region have been processed for export operations to date.
