Industrial production of Uzbekistan grows by 7.2% in Jan-Sep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Industrial production of Uzbekistan grew by 7.2% year-on-year to 36.684 trillion soums in January-September 2012, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In the reporting period, Uzbekistan produced consumer goods worth12.832 trillion soums (+7.5% year-on-year). The volume of produced food products reached 5.619 trillion soums (+7%) and non-food good – 7.213 trillion soums (+7.9%).
Fuel industry (18.9% from total industrial output), machinery and metal processing (16.6%), food industry (13.7%) and light industry (11.8%) had the largest share in industrial production.
At the same time, share of fuel industry in total industrial production grew by 1.6 percentage points compared to January-September 2011. Share of light industry fell by 0.4 percentage points and machinery and metal processing – 0.4 percentage points.
In particular, fuel industry produced goods for 6.917 trillion soums (+4.9%), machinery and metal processing 6.088 trillion soums (+10.6%), light industry – 4.314 trillion soums (+13.2%) and food industry – 5.028 trillion soums (+7.2%).
