AFD develops its first project in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Agence Française de Développement (AFD, or French Development Agency) is developing its first project in Uzbekistan, a press service of the Embassy of France in Tashkent.
According to the Embassy, mission of the AFD is currently in Uzbekistan to develop a project on modernization of low-voltage electricity networks in three regions of Uzbekistan.
The French diplomatic mission said that this is the first AFD project in Uzbekistan, which is developed within the memorandum signed between the agency and the Government of Uzbekistan on 2 March 2013.
The Embassy added that the AFD experts are also studying perspectives of implementation of new projects in other sectors. The mission will also hold talks at the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan and Uzbekenergo state joint stock company.
The mission said that the visit confirms intention of the AFD to participate in modernization of economy of Uzbekistan and strengthen French presence in the country.
