Uzbekistan develops draft law on protection of children from harmful information

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan developed a draft law “On protection of under ages from information, harming their physical and spiritual development”, Director-General of the Uzbek Agency for Print and Information Amanulla Yunusov said.
Amanulla Yunusov stated that the Agency in cooperation with interested state and non-state organizations developed a draft law “On protection of under ages from information, harming their physical and spiritual development”.
He said that the law consists of 8 chapters and 34 articles. The draft law is directed at protection children and youth from information, which harm their physical and spiritual development.
In particular, it will directed at fighting distribution of print, audio and video products, as well as electronic games, which promote violence and cruelty, drug addiction, pornography and other harmful information.
Uzbek official said that protecting children from harmful information, Uzbekistan will implement its international obligations. In particular, the country will implement articles 13, 17 and 34 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Amanulla Yunusov added that Uzbekistan studied experience of England, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan, United States, Ukraine and other countries at development of the draft law.
He said that the document envisages legal mechanisms on categorization of content on ages, placement of special signs and limitation of broadcasting time of TV and radio programmes to protect children from harmful information.
