No cases of Zika virus recorded in Uzbekistan – official

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan adopts measures to prevent importing and spreading of dangerous infections in the country, including Zika virus.
Deputy head of the Main department of sanitary-epidemiolofical supervision of Uzbekistan Dilorom Tursunova told to Narodnoye Slovo that currently no cases of Zika virus were recorded in Uzbekistan.
She said that thermographic cameras were installed at the borders in all airports, railway stations and customs posts of Uzbekistan to reveal ill people.
Zika virus disease is caused by a virus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
People with Zika virus disease usually have symptoms that can include mild fever, skin rashes, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain, malaise or headache. These symptoms normally last for 2-7 days.
There is no specific treatment or vaccine currently available. The best form of prevention is protection against mosquito bites.
