Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Russia is planning to introduce a ban on sugar exports, Russian media reported.
It is expected that soon the export of sugar and sugar beets from Russia will be suspended until 31 August 2024.
The draft resolution was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. According to the department’s estimates, from the beginning of the current season until the end of February 2024, Russian sugar exports increased 3.3 times due to solving problems with logistics and payments, as well as lower insurance prices.
At the same time, supplies to the EAEU countries will be carried out in accordance with previously agreed quotas.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan imports the bulk of sugar from the Russian Federation. Russia also increased supplies of sugar beets to sugar factories in Uzbekistan.
