Rosatom presents innovative solutions in nuclear energy and e-mobility in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 April 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the stand of the Russian state corporation Rosatom at the international industrial exhibition "INNOPROM. Central Asia." Alexey Likhachev, Head of Rosatom, presented the President of Uzbekistan with a range of technological solutions in the fields of nuclear energy and e-mobility.

The exhibition featured a model of a small nuclear power plant utilizing Russian RITM-200N reactors. This technology, proven in Russia’s nuclear icebreakers, will be used to equip Uzbekistan’s upcoming small nuclear power plant, which will include six such reactors.

In addition, the stand showcased solutions in the field of e-mobility, including a lithium-ion battery and a sample charging station.

Rosatom is capable of producing about 60% of all electric vehicle components, including battery packs, electric motors, magnets made from rare-earth metals, and other elements.

Currently, the corporation is building two gigafactories in Russia to produce energy storage systems, which will be capable of supplying batteries for up to 100,000 electric vehicles annually. Rosatom is also undertaking the construction of charging hubs and an electric charging station network.

Alexey Likhachev emphasized the importance of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in nuclear energy, noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Soviet and Russian nuclear industry.

He also highlighted that the contract signed last May for the construction of the small nuclear power plant in Jizzakh region became the world’s first export contract for the construction of a small modular nuclear power plant (SMR).

This achievement confirms Uzbekistan’s leadership in low-carbon technologies and reflects the strong trust-based relations between the two countries.
