Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A tourism-focused business forum titled “Samarkand – New York” was held in the U.S. state of New York, serving as a platform to discuss prospects for expanding economic and cultural ties between the two sides. Participants presented the tourism and investment potential of Samarkand region and explored opportunities for developing the services sector.

At the opening of the forum, Samarkand regional governor Adiz Boboev delivered a presentation outlining the region’s economic potential, ongoing reforms to attract investment, and the conditions created for doing business.

He noted that Samarkand is now viewed not only as a historical and cultural center but also as a region with rapidly developing modern infrastructure oriented toward business and tourism.

During the event, participants exchanged proposals and initiatives and responded to questions raised by attendees.

The sides discussed prospects for implementing joint projects, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and further developing the tourism sector.

The forum was described as an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation, laying the groundwork for new investment projects, and expanding business contacts with representatives of the Uzbek diaspora and the business community operating in the United States.
