Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent Zoo is participating in the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which is being held in Samarkand from 30 May to 6 June 2026.

The GEF Assembly is one of the largest international environmental forums, bringing together more than 1,500 delegates from 186 countries. Participants include representatives of government agencies, international organisations, the scientific community, the private sector, and environmental institutions.

The event is addressing key global issues such as climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, protection of ecosystems and endangered species, as well as the development of the GEF strategy for 2026–2030.

For Tashkent Zoo, participation in such a high-level forum provides opportunities to exchange experience with international colleagues, study advanced conservation practices, and strengthen professional cooperation with leading environmental organisations worldwide.

Modern zoos play an important role in the preservation of rare and endangered animal species, environmental education, and scientific research.

Participation in international platforms of this scale contributes to the introduction of effective conservation approaches, development of environmental protection activities, and improvement of public ecological awareness.

Tashkent Zoo’s involvement in the 8th GEF Assembly reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and the expansion of international environmental cooperation.
