Uzbekistan and India hold 17th political consultations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 17th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and India was held on 13 May 2026, in New Delhi, where the two sides discussed the current state and prospects of their strategic partnership.
The Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bahromjon A’loyev, while the Indian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sibi George. The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, with both sides conducting a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation.
During the consultations, particular attention was paid to further deepening cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian areas. The sides noted the steady expansion of collaboration in sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education, tourism, and civil aviation.
Opportunities for strengthening interregional ties were also discussed.
A separate part of the talks focused on international cooperation. The sides exchanged views on collaboration within multilateral organizations and international platforms, as well as coordination of efforts to ensure regional security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing investment cooperation and expanding practical economic partnership between Uzbekistan and India.
