Uzbekistan and Omnitele Discuss Telecom Development and 5G Expansion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has discussed the development of telecommunications infrastructure, expansion of broadband networks, and introduction of 5G technologies with Finnish consulting and engineering company Omnitele.
The talks were held by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov.
Omnitele is one of Finland’s leading telecommunications consultancy firms. During the meeting, the sides reviewed further improvements to digital connectivity and modernization of network infrastructure.
Special attention was paid to mobile network planning and optimization, the use of data analytics tools, and improving the efficiency of investments in the telecommunications sector.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation within international initiatives aimed at improving digital connectivity in Central Asia, including the European Union’s Connectivity for Central Asia (C4CA) project.
Additional topics included expanding mobile coverage in Uzbekistan, developing fiber-optic infrastructure, and increasing access to high-quality internet services for the population.
The Minister of Digital Technologies emphasized that promoting competition in the telecom sector, modernizing infrastructure, and ensuring affordable, high-quality connectivity remain key priorities of state policy.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed interest in continuing cooperation and implementing joint projects in telecom infrastructure and digital connectivity.
