Uzbekistan Health Ministry Denies E-Recipe System Cancellation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has denied reports circulating on social media suggesting that the “E-Recipe” electronic prescription system has been cancelled. The statements were triggered by a draft regulatory document published on a public discussion portal titled “On repealing the order on the phased implementation of the ‘E-Recipe’ system.”

The ministry stressed that interpretations presented in several publications are inaccurate. It clarified that Order No. 25 of 15 December 2025, outlines a phased approach to forming a list of medicines to be dispensed via electronic prescriptions.

At the initial stage, mandatory use of the system was introduced for systemic antibiotics, synthetic antibacterial drugs, and hormonal medicines.

According to the ministry, the newly presented draft order does not propose cancellation but rather an expansion of the digital system. The document provides for a full transition to the “E-Recipe” system in medical institutions and pharmacies in Tashkent, as well as in 15 pilot districts and cities participating in the experimental project.

At the same time, exceptions remain in place for certain categories of strong-acting medicines, drugs containing narcotic and psychotropic substances, and procedures related to reimbursement programmes.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the system continues to be implemented in stages and is aimed at further advancing the digitalization of pharmaceutical circulation and prescription management in the healthcare sector.
