Uzbekistan’s Business Activity Index Rises in April 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Business Activity Index, calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, continued to grow in April 2026, increasing by 6.5% compared to the previous month and reaching 1,065 points. According to CEIR, the index also rose by 22% year-on-year.

Growth was recorded across all key components of the index.

The number of transactions on corporate bank accounts increased by 8.3%, reflecting higher financial activity among businesses. The intensity of raw material purchases on the commodity exchange rose by 5.4%. The component reflecting active business entities grew by 1.7%, while the trademarks component showed the strongest increase at 33.9%.

Regional dynamics also showed growth across all regions of the country. The highest increases were recorded in Karakalpakstan (46.2%), Namangan region (43%), Jizzakh region (41.1%), and Sirdarya region (38.1%).

The number of interbank payment transactions reached 7,641.3 thousand in April, an increase of 588.8 thousand transactions, or 8.3%, compared to March 2026. Growth was observed in 12 regions, including Tashkent city, Tashkent region, Sirdarya region, and Karakalpakstan.

Total trading volume on the Republican Commodity Exchange across 34 key goods reached 8,532 billion soums, up 14.4% month-on-month. The main drivers of growth included increased sales of industrial oil, bitumen, cotton oil, and diesel fuel.

The number of active enterprises increased by 3,682 to reach 514.7 thousand during the reporting period.

Large enterprises rose to 4,940, small businesses reached 420,900, while the number of farms decreased to 88,900.

The trademarks component reached 1.3392 points, increasing by 33.9%, with 529 trademarks and product names registered in April.
