Weightlifting: Alimjonov Wins Uzbekistan’s First Asian Medal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national weightlifting team has won its first medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships taking place in Gandhinagar, India.

The award for the national team was secured by Abdullaziz Alimjonov, who competed in the 79 kg weight category.

The Uzbek athlete recorded a 191 kg lift in the clean and jerk, which earned him third place and the bronze medal at the continental championship.

For Uzbekistan’s national team, this medal is the first at the current edition of the Asian Championships.
