Boys Account for Majority of Births in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan registered 191,086 live births in January–March 2026, according to data released by the National Statistics Committee.

Official statistics showed that 98,500 of the newborns were boys, accounting for 51.5% of total births, while girls totaled 92,600, or 48.5%.

The distribution of births by place of residence showed that 93,700 births, or 49.1% of the total, were recorded in urban areas, while 97,400 births, or 50.9%, were registered in rural areas.

During the reporting period, the country’s birth rate stood at 20.2 per 1,000 people, reflecting current demographic trends in the republic.
