Peskov: EAEU Welcomes Uzbekistan’s Integration Interest
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — All member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) support Uzbekistan’s interest in integration processes and expect closer cooperation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to the TASS news agency.
According to Peskov, EAEU member states are interested in seeing their closest partners engage with the bloc and join integration mechanisms.
He described Uzbekistan’s interest in the EAEU as “positive” and expressed hope for further rapprochement.
“This is a highly positive interest for the EAEU,” TASS quoted Peskov as saying. He also stated that membership in the bloc could bring Uzbekistan additional economic benefits and “dividends,” emphasizing the mutually beneficial nature of cooperation.
The Kremlin spokesman added that the EAEU represents an “advanced form of integration” in the post-Soviet space that contributes to economic growth in member states.
Peskov also commented on relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, describing them as “close and friendly,” which, according to him, helps facilitate effective cooperation.
He further noted that Uzbekistan is an important and close partner of Russia, with economic, trade, investment, and humanitarian ties rooted in a long shared history.
